As soon as the family walk is over, you will be greeted with gorgeous panoramic views of the Tai Tam Reservoir!
How to Get There:
The perfect spot on the Family Trail for a picnic overlooking the Tai Tam Reservoir!
Hiking Directions:
After getting off the bus, walk up the staircase next to the petrol pump (image 1).
Walk up Tai Tam Reservoir Road towards Hong Kong Parkview, and follow the signs towards Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail (image 2). There are many trails along this road, so it can get confusing. This one is at least a 15 minute walk upwards.
In order to get to the start of this trail, you need to walk past Hong Kong Parkview (walk past the Wilson and Hong Kong trails).
The trail head is inside the 'Tai Tam Country Park' (image 3).
After walking downhill for a few minutes, the trail marked "Tai Tam Family Walk" is on your right (image 4).
The trail is mostly flat from here, and although there appears to be a few crossroads, just stay on the widest, most obvious path.
You will eventually be able to see the reservoir. After this, follow all the signs towards Tai Tam Road.
After the reservoirs are out of sight, you will arrive at another crossroads (image 5). Go up the stairs on the left, following the sign towards Tai Tam Road.
Once the trail is over, turn right and walk for about one minute on Tai Tam Road, and you will eventually reach a bus stop for Bus No. 14 (image 6). Take this bus to back Shau Kei Wan Station.
From the reservoir, the Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail begins, which we will cover in another blog post. If you have the time, you can definitely do both on the same day!
